Security Checking At Finger Printing Appointment For Visitors Visa To USA

STEP 3: Security Check

  1. All battery operated or electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, audio/video playing or recording devices , calculators, torches, flashlights, radios, compact discs (CDs), VCDs, DVDs, MP3’s, digital audio players (such as i-Pod), floppies, flash drives, memory sticks, Bluetooth devices, laptops, palm tops or portable music players (such as CD players), electronic items. Remote car key are not allowed either.
  2. All ladies hand bags/purses. Only a small ladies pouch in hand will be permitted.
  3. All bags such as travel bags, back packs, briefcases, suitcases, leather, jute or cloth bags and zip folders. Only an unsealed, transparent plastic bag containing your application-related papers will be permitted.
  4. Any food item.
  5. Sealed envelopes or packages. Do not push folders or sealed envelopes through any of the counter windows outside or inside the consulate. However, if you are an immigrant visa applicant and have a sealed medical report, you can enter the consulate. The medical report must remain sealed at all times.
  6. Smoking items such as Cigarettes / cigars / matches / match boxes / lighters.
  7. Any sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files.
  8. Weapons or explosive material of any kind.
  9. Bottles of any kind.
  10. Any liquids including beverages, hand sanitizers, anti-bacterial gels.

You must not carry any food, drinks or cosmetics with you. If you carry any of that, you will have to discard them at your own risk. You must switch off your mobile phone. If it is possible to remove the battery in your mobile phone (not possible in iPhone), you must do that while at VSO.

 STEP 2: Document Verification

  1. VSO representatives will make you stand in queue for document verification.
  2. The first things that will get verified while you are in the queue is DS160 confirmation page. This verification tells the representative at the counter that you have checked in and are in the queue.
  3. At the Counter, all the information on your DS-160 will be verified with your passport.

Or error in Date of Birth etc. In case of errors you will be asked to fix the error and re print the document. DONT PANIC !!   4. The counter representative will also verify your appointment letter and your bank receipt.

Once the above steps are completed you will be asked to go in for security check.

STEP 1: Preparing Documentation For Finger Printing Appointment

The list of documents your MUST carry for your finger printing appointment:

  1. Passports (Current and Previous if Any)
  2. DS-160 Confirmation Page (View Here)
    The DS-160 confirmation page has bar code at the bottom with a Unique Identification Number (UIN) starting from ‘AA’. The people at the VSO will need to scan the same in order to register you for the fingerprinting.
  3. Bank Receipt Indicating Fee’s received
  4. Appointment Confirmation Page (View Here)
  5. DS-160 Application Print Out (Optional)
